A standing ovation at the evening of Saturday, Dec. 13th 2014, at Erbil International Airport Mr. Ashur Eskrya, president of the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq received Dr. Chris Seiple, head of (Institute for Global Engagement), as he was also received by Mr. Yacob Georges, member of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament, Mr. Kaldo Ogana, member of the General Committee of the Assyrian Democratic Movement, as the visit of Dr. Seiple came to inspect for the conditions of displaced people in Erbil, Dohuk and try to mitigate them through the implementing of relief programs and help them to overcome the winter cold and stand on their side and Especially we are at the waiting of the Christmas and New Year.
during his visit, Dr. Seiple, participated in several relief programs for displaced families in Erbil, Dohuk, by the support of the (Institute for Global Engagement) which included the distribution of food and fuel (Kerosene), as on Dec. 14th 2014, the Assyrian Aid Society in Erbil, represented by Mr. Awder Marben, implemented a relief program for 200 families in two places in Ainkawa, which included the food basket and heating oil (Kerosene), where the distribution have been smooth and systematic with the participation of Dr. Seiple. As the displaced families expressed their pleasure for the interesting of local and international organizations to their plight in these difficult times.
Dr. Chris Seiple, during the time he was in Arbil, visited several centers to inspect the conditions of the displaced and stand at some of the problems they face and ways to solve them. then made a visit to the Chaldoassyrian Student and Youth Union and met Mr. Fadi and Ms. Savina Dawood as he also visited the Assyrian Women Union inspected the conditions of displaced people there.
As a complement to his visit, Dr. Seiple visited Dohuk, on Dec. 15th 2014, Sunday morning, arrived to the headquarters of the Assyrian Aid Society and received by members of Society, after which he immediately visited the displaced families at the Dormitories of AAS and talked to some of the families, then Mr. Seiple and Mr. Ashur Eskrya in addition to Mr. Peter Esho & Ms. Evet Nivademos visited different centers in Dohuk for the displaced families (Assyrian cultural Center, Chaldean Center for Culture and Art, Sennacherib Sport Club and the Dormitories of AASI) for the implementation of the relief program, which included the distribution (food basket and fuel for more than 250 families of displaced families from Mosul and Nineveh Plain, where families expressed their gratitude for this initiative of Dr. Seiple and the Assyrian Aid Society which expresses its sincere sense of the extent that they feel towards them.
On the same day evening, Mr. Seiple and Mr. Eskrya went to the Kori Gavana village to meet some of the displaced families there, and talk to them directly, Then Mr. Eskrya farewell his guest, wishing him a safe and successful trip, hoping him to come back again to see the conditions of these families closely, while Mr. Seiple expressed his thanks and gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of his journey.
