On May 30th, 2013 the president of the Assyrian Aid Society of Iraq, Mr. Ashur Sargon met Mr. Levent Ilir, the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Turkey to the United Nations in New York, by the attendance of Dr. William Ishaya, the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations, Ms. Kizim Sokuqlo the Officer of society organizations Affairs in the representation of Turkey to the United Nations, the meeting discussed the situation of Christians in the Middle East and the activities of the Assyrian Aid Society in supporting the displaced people and the Assyrian Education.

 

Also Mr. Ashur met Ms. Maxine Hillary, the representative of the United States Agency for International Development (U.S. AID) in the representation of the United States of America to the United Nations, by the attendance of Ms. Mona Malik, the Vice-President of the Assyrian Aid Society of America, where the meeting discussed Society's activities in various fields, which included the supporting of the Assyrian Education & the displaced people and the  future joint cooperation on the issues of the Indigenous Peoples.

 

At the same time Ms. Shoushan Tower from the Assyrian Aid Society of Australia, made the speech of our Society through the Permanent Forum of the Indigenous Peoples talked about the prospective targets of 2015 for the Indigenous Peoples, which included the activities of the Society since 1991, till now, and our suggestions to promote a better future for indigenous peoples.
