On Aug 8th 2012, Mr. Ashur Sargon president of the Assyrian Aid Society Iraq gave a lecture at the Assyrian Cultural Center, in which he talked about the participation of the Society at the 11th Permanent Forum on Indigenous Peoples, which being organized annually by the United Nations at its headquarters in New York, where he highlighted during the lecture on the importance of the participation in this forum, as he also explained the issue of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. The president of the Society talked about the meetings he made during his participation with many Organizations, Personalities and Representatives of participated countries in the Permanent Forum, as Mr. Ashur highlighted to the Rapprochement of the suffer of indigenous peoples everywhere and its similarity with our People.

 

The lecture was attended, by the President of the Assyrian Cultural Center Mr. Riyadh Jarjees with a number of Center's members, Mr. Marqos Eramia official of Dohuk branch for the Assyrian Democratic Movement and a number of cadres of the ADM, Miss. Ailen Georgis responsible for Duhok branch for the Chaldoassyrian Student and Youth Union and other members of the Union, Ms. Marleen Slefo responsible for Dohuk branch for the Assyrian Women Union, members of the AASI and a number of intellectuals and those interested in indigenous issues, where Mr. Ashur Sargon answered on the audience questions and discussed many issues that raised in this regard.
