For the period 15 - 17 February, the president of the Assyrian Aid Society, Engineer Ashur Sargon participated in the workshop that held by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) in the resort of the Dead Sea in Jordan, where the workshop discussed the mechanisms of the Global Environment Fund and the beneficiary countries of it, as well as the role of civil society organizations in the protection of environment and how to get the Fund's support, where official delegations from sixteen countries have been participated in the conference, including Iraq, in addition to the representatives of civil society organizations from several countries.

During the workshop, the President of the Assyrian Aid Society met a number of personages, including the Chairperson of the Global Environment Facility, Ms. Monique Barbut and Mr. William Ehlers the Vice-President of the Global Environment Facility, as well as Dr. Ali al-Lami the adviser of the Ministry of the Environment in Iraq.
