Dr. Ashour Moradkhan, 1926 - 2020

It is with profound sadness that the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq has learned of the passing of Dr. Ashour Moradkhan, an Assyrian patriot, scholar, and activist whose life was dedicated to supporting and uplifting our, our culture, and our language.

in the spring of 2000 Dr. Moradkhan traveled to the homeland with Narsai David and Ashur Yoseph, then Assyrian Aid Society of America (AAS-A) President and Vice-President respectively, with a vision to help rural Assyrians by restoring their agricultural base and providing an economic sustainability necessary for Assyrians to remain in the Homeland. The Atra Project, a joint multi-year project of Dr. Moradkhan and the Assyrian Aid Society of America, saw 81,000 of fruit trees planted in 41 villages across north Iraq and miles of irrigation networks built to sustain those orchards.

Our deepest condolences to the Moradkhan family and to all who knew and loved him.
