During his tour in the United States of America, Mr. Ashur Eskrya, President of the Assyrian Aid Society, visited the city of Chicago, Illinois, from Jul. 27th – 30th 2018, where he was received at the airport by Mr. Peter Bityou, Vice President of the Assyrian Aid Society of America, Ms. Renya Benyamin, President of the Assyrian Aid Society of Chicago, Mr. Shiba Mando, President of the Assyrian National Council of Illinois, Mr. Hormuz Tayro, in charge of the Assyrian Democratic Movement in Chicago and Ms. Juliana Taimoorazy, President of the Iraqi Christian Relief Council.

 

The President of the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq held several meetings and visits, which included the visit to His Eminence Archbishop Isaac Yousif, Archbishop of the Assyrian Church of the East in Dohuk and Russia, He also met with His Grace Mar Paulus Benjamin, Bishop of the Diocese of Eastern USA. He also visited a number of our people's institutions in Chicago. As well as meeting with the reverent Tiglat Homer of the Assyrian Evangelical Church in Chicago.

 

These meetings dealt with the situation of our people and future of the Nineveh Plain, the ways of helping the return of displaced people to their homes after liberation, the importance of establishing security in the region, as well as the need to rebuild what has been destroyed of homes and lands of our people to enable them to survive and preserve this land. The meetings also discussed the participation of the President of the AAS-Iraq in the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom  conference and meetings held with many governmental and legislative figures and civil society organizations in Washington DC.
