On Thursday, Feb. 25th 2016, the president of the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq Mr. Ashur Eskrya met at the headquarters of the US consulate in Erbil, Mr. Knox Thames the Special Advisor for Religious Minorities in the Near East and South/Central Asia in the US Department of State.
The meeting of president of AASI with special advisor included discussion on the situation of minorities in Iraq in general and the Assyrian Christians in particular, as the president of the AASI also talked with the Special Advisor about the role of our Society and its activities during the last period in the provision of humanitarian aid to the displaced people and refugees from their areas in Mosul and Nineveh Plain after the events of June 2014, and the aspiration for the return of displaced people to their areas of origin after the liberation.
